Blowback Is Coming

Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan died this week in what western governments disingenuously refer to as a "targeted killing".  "Targeted killing" is a euphemism for "assassination".  Since Roshan was a civilian, and since Iran is not at war with the U.S., Israel, or Britain (the leading candidates for the perpetrators of the deed), Roshan's killing cannot be honestly construed as anything other than murder.  And now Iran is threatening to retaliate (duh!).  This is what the CIA calls blowback.  What form this blowback will take is the $64,000 question.  But one thing is probable:  it will be unintended.  It may also be violent and directed at civilians.  How exactly, then, do covert operations, such as those directed at Iranian scientists, make us safer?  Bonus question:  Is "targeted killing" the mark of a "Christian nation"?

Looks like those Iranians got some blowback there.

I understand the gist of your comment, but it is technically incorrect, since the Iranian nuclear program is not a covert operation carried out on foreign soil.

The West, right or wrong, believes that Iran is always up to no good. That is probably due to it's financing of terrorist organisations and calling the U.S. the Great Satan. So even if Iran should have to right to develop it's own nuclear capabilities as we have, they aren't given the chance because they are perceived as being violent extremists, in part because the media blows things up and because of comments they have made. I think both sides of this issue are stuck too stuck in "kill mode" when it comes to the other.
